# 4 Beg, steal or borrow

Heard this for the first time this evening.

Is that bad? I mean, this being the UK's song for the 1972 Eurovision and me being born in 1972 and everything? I mean, really? Is that bad? Am I a really shit Eurovision fan?

I really enjoyed it listening to it for the first time this evening. It seemed terribly me.

You're kidding me. You've never heard this song before? How old are you? Oh yes quite young I suppose.

Well not only do you have a huge Eurovision back catalogue to catch up on you also have to run the gamut of the Best of the New Seekers cd.

This is a fun-filled, ultra positive, New-Seekers-at-their-best song, an affirmation of life at it purest and the admission that you sometimes have to commit gentle crimes in order to make your love felt.

A big thumbs-up from me!

Let's put it this way, Jon - if you're going back and listening to these songs, then you're a great Eurovision fan, no matter when you go back and listen to them!

This one is not amongst my favourite UK entries, but it's worthy of note for two reasons. Firstly, I believe lead male Peter Doyle was the first Australian to take to a Eurovision stage, and like all fellow Aussies in later years he did a very good job.

Secondly, the group imbued some very pleasing ragged vitality into their live performance on the night, which helped to enliven what was a fairly dull year.

At least during this period the UK still treated Eurovision seriously and strove to pick the strongest possible entry - something which they lost all interest in doing just a few short years later...
